Calculate from completed work, not listed price
A freelance listing price is not the amount available to pay the freelancer. Marketplace deductions, withdrawal or currency costs, refunds, revisions, subcontracting, software, and fulfillment expenses reduce take-home income. This calculator multiplies average completed order value by monthly order volume, then subtracts adjustable fee assumptions and direct expense per order.
Use completed and collected orders from a consistent period. Do not mix a current order count with lifetime average pricing or include orders that were cancelled. If packages vary widely, calculate each service separately or use a revenue-weighted average order value. High-ticket strategy and high-volume strategy can produce the same gross revenue with very different workloads.
Confirm the fee that applies to your account
Marketplace policies, seller programs, promotions, withdrawal methods, and currency conversion can change. The default platform percentage is an editable scenario, not a guarantee of current Fiverr terms in every location. Compare gross order revenue with the amount credited in your account, and use official help documentation to identify the deductions relevant to you.
Payment and conversion costs deserve their own assumption because they may occur after the marketplace deduction. If you are paid in a different currency from your expenses, track the actual exchange rate and provider charge. Small percentage differences become meaningful when applied across a year of revenue.
Measure delivery cost and capacity
Direct order expense includes subcontractors, stock assets, paid tools used for the job, transaction-specific services, and other costs that would not exist without that order. The calculator subtracts a flat average per order. For services with highly variable fulfillment, model separate gig types instead of forcing every job into one average.
Also track hours per order even though this calculator focuses on cash net. Divide monthly net earnings by total delivery and administration hours to find effective hourly earnings. Revisions, messaging, sales calls, queue management, and late client feedback are real workload. A busy profile can be less valuable than a smaller book of well-scoped, repeatable projects.
Set prices backward from the required net
When fees are percentage based, raising the list price by the fee percentage alone does not always preserve the intended net because the fee also applies to the increase. Use the calculator iteratively: enter the proposed price, examine net per order, and adjust until the remaining amount covers labor, overhead, risk, and profit.
The result excludes income tax and general business overhead unless you include them in delivery expense. Use clear packages, revision limits, client requirements, and add-ons to reduce uncontrolled scope. Sustainable marketplace work depends as much on operational boundaries and repeat buyers as it does on appearing in search results.
